We are currently @ 1867 Recording Studio mixing our new album. We’ve spent the past 3 weeks here tracking and we couldn’t be happier with how it is turning out!

One week from today on Thursday January 26 we will be in NYC playing @ Pianos with our good friends The Party Faithful (who will be celebrating the release of their new album), and The Wicked Tomorrow. Very excited, come party with us!

NEW ALBUM SPRING 2012

Hello Friends,

I can’t tell you all how happy I am to say that after 4 months of writing a whole batch of new songs in the practice space with my 3 best friends/3 favorite musicians in the world, our recording dates are booked! It all starts December 28 @ 1867 Recording Studio with the loveable Chris McLaughlin. As far as the new songs, we’ve learned a lot from one another these past 3 years of being a band, and it continually amazes me how we all work together, stay in tune with one another, and remain close friends. These new songs are by far the best we have ever made as a band. I’ve been playing guitar since i was a kid, and I feel very happy knowing that I am in the band I always wanted to be in, writing the album I always wanted to write.

As far as the release of the album, we’re planning a Spring 2012 release. We’ll have more info and details on this in the upcoming months, so stay tuned!

We’ll be rounding out 2011 playing the WFNX Miracle On Lansdowne St. this Friday December 9 @ House Of Blues in Boston w/ Matt & Kim, and Mutemath. Tickets are available HERE

End Of 2011 / New Album / Boston Music Awards

Hello Friends,

Voting ends tomorrow night November 9 at midnight in the Boston Music Awards. We’re up for “Artist Of The Year”, “Album/EP Of The Year”, and “Song Of The Year”. If you’d like, you can vote for us and/or many other great bands HERE!

We’ll be going in to 1867 Recording Studio to record our brand new full length album in late December with good friend/engineer Chris McLaughlin. We couldn’t be more excited about it. Can’t wait hit the road and release this new music to all of you in 2012.

Before then we’ll be finishing up 2011 with 3 very special hometown shows. We’ll be taking part in the Buffalo Tom 25th Anniversary shows. They’ll be doing 3 nights @ Brighton Music Hall in Allston, Nov. 25-27, and we’ll be playing November 26. They have some very exciting guests planned, J. Mascis, Ted Leo, and many more. As lifelong fans of Buffalo Tom, we couldn’t be happier to be a part of this celebration of their music. You can get tickets HERE.

NEW ALBUM IN 2012 & FALL SHOWS!

Hello Friends,

We hope that your has Summer has treated you well, and that you're just as excited as we are about the Fall! We've been busy writing a bunch of new songs, and we plan on writing many more before the end of the year. This Winter we'll be going back into 1867 Recording Studio with our good friend, engineer/producer Chris McLaughlin, to record a brand new full length album that will be released in 2012. We'll be posting updates throughout this process, videos, demos, etc., so keep checking back for updates. We're super excited about this, and we can't wait to share new music with you all.

In the meantime, we'll be playing some shows this Fall as we write & record the new album. The first of which is with one of our favorite new bands who will be here all the way from England, YUCK! The show is on September 22 @ T.T. The Bear's Place in Cambridge. Our last Boston show of the year before we go in to record the new album will be October 21 @ Brighton Music Hall. We have some great bands playing with us, the full line up will be announced soon, and we'll be debuting a bunch of new songs. It should be a lot of fun! To all our NYC friends, we'll be back in Brooklyn on November 2 @ Knitting Factory w/ Colour Revolt, and Empires. Very much looking forward to seeing you all again!

We had a great time in NYC, Philly, & DC with Buffalo Tom! Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the shows, you guys are awesome! Also, thanks so much to Buffalo Tom for having us. They are a huge inspiration on us as people and as a band.

"Hemophiliac" out now... and FREE!

Hey All,

You can download our new EP, “Hemophiliac”, for FREE @ BANDCAMP!

For some back story, we were originally planning on going into the studio to record a full length album, until about a month ago we found out that we weren’t going to have any financial support for the recording. We decided to record what we could afford to record ourselves. This release is entirely self-funded, and we want to give it away to anyone that is interested in listening. If you feel so inclined, you can “name your own price” and pay us whatever money you see fit for it, and if you want it for free, simply put in 0. Feel free to share this music & this download link with anyone you want. Post it anywhere you want. We hope you enjoy it!

For some info on the EP, it was recorded & produced by the wonderful John Agnello @ Headgear Recording Studio in Brooklyn, NY. It was mastered by Nick Zampiello @ New Alliance East in Cambridge, MA. Our good friend John Allen took the beautifully strange cover photo. Our good friend Pat Morin did the artwork design of the physical CD copies which you can pick up at any of our upcoming shows. And last, but not least, the talented, Nick Curran, who took some lovely photographs.

We will be celebrating the release of this new EP in Boston on Saturday January 29 @ Brighton Music Hall w/ Taxpayer, Girlfriends, & Dirty Dishes, and in NYC on Saturday February 5 @ Pianos w/ The Vandelles, The Party Faithful, and Boom Chick. Hey Friends,

We'll be playing our last show of the year tomorrow night up in Portland Maine @ The Space with two great artists, Audrey Ryan, and The No. 9. Should be a lot of fun! Looking forward to seeing all you Mainiacs there!

We'll be taking the rest of the year off from playing live to finish up writing and preparing to record our new album in January with producer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Hold Steady). The album is slated for a Spring 2011 release.

2010 has been an exciting year for us. Hello Friends,

I thought I would make this blog to update you on what’s been happening with us, and what we have planned for the rest of the year.

We apologize to New York, Portland, and Philadelphia for having to cancel our shows in August. Our drummer, the man, the myth, the legend, Mikey Holland, had to have surgery on his hand this past weekend. At our 7 Inch release show last month here in Boston, Mr. Holland played so hard he busted open his thumb and the cut got infected, and the infection got into his bone. It was a scary situation, and we were all very concerned for our long time friend, but the good news is he is out of the hospital and will make a complete recovery after 3-4 weeks of recuperation and good vibes from his groovy band mates.

On the upside, we’ll be announcing September tour dates soon, which we are very excited about, so stay tuned! Until then, we’ll be spending the rest of the summer finishing up writing our next full length album. We're planning on heading back into the studio later this year to record it with the extremely handsome multi-talented producer extraordinaire, Mr. John Agnello (back off ladies, he’s taken!)

On a funny note, if you're around a TV tomorrow night, tune into MTV @ 10PM for the season premiere of their show "Teen Mom", which will feature four Mean Creek songs. That's right guys, we made it!!!!!!

Upcoming 7 Inch/Digital Single

Hey Friends,

We’ve been hard at work on a bunch of brand new songs, and it's been really incredible to be able to focus on new material. We couldn’t be more excited about the new music we’ve been writing, and we’re very much looking forward to sharing it with you all.

In April we’ll be going into Headgear recording studio in Brooklyn with John Agnello to record some brand new songs for an upcoming 7 inch/digital single that will be released by the good people at Old Flame Records. We’re very excited to work with John, he’s recorded a lot of albums we really love by bands like Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Buffalo Tom, and many more, including the upcoming Dead Confederate album which we are all very much looking forward to.

Whigs Tour/Year End Wrap Up & New Year's Eve Party!!

Hello Friends!

SO sorry for the long delay on updates for this blog. This year has been pretty incredible, and we'd really like to thank everybody who has supported us and our new album since its recording earlier this year, and its release in October. Nothing we do would be possible without all of you guys, and we can't thank you all enough for consistently coming out to our shows, and showing your support in a million other ways. There are too many of you to name, but hopefully you all know who you are.

Since we last updated this blog we won "New Act Of The Year" @ the Boston Music Awards which we are all very excited about! Thanks to everyone who voted for us. We put everything we had into making our new album earlier this year and it's nice to see people appreciate our hard work.

We were out on tour this month for two weeks with two great bands, The Whigs from Athens, GA, and The Features from Nashville, TN. Both bands are incredible people and musicians and we really learned a lot from them. The tour took us down south and up the east coast, and we got to play in some really great venues we've always wanted to get the chance to play at. Thanks so much to our buddies in The Whigs for bringing us along for the ride! Check out some photos we took HERE!

All that being said, we are more than excited about 2010! A new decade and a fresh start for us all! We have a lot of touring plans for the new year, the first of which will be in February with our friends Destry who are a great new band featuring members of Straylight Run, and The Format. Check them out here! - http://www.myspace.com/destrymusic We also have been working hard at writing new songs and are looking forward to making a new album later on into 2010. We are really proud of what we made this year in "The Sky (Or The Underground)", but we are very excited to expand upon it!

Before all of that goes down though, come celebrate 2009 with us! New Year's Eve bash @ Great Scott!! We will be playing, along with 3 great bands, You Can Be A Wesley, Magic Magic, & Earthquake Party! It is sure to be a rager!!

Boston CD Release Show August 8

Hello Friends,

We are very excited to celebrate the completion and release of our new album "The Sky (Or The Underground)" on Saturday August 8 @ Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge. The new album is available now @ http://oldflamerecords.com/shop/, but will not be available in stores and online everywhere until Tuesday October 13. We will be doing this special early celebration here in Boston, and we would love you all to be there with us!

Erik, Mikey, Aurore, and I all put 100% of ourselves into this new album, and we are all very proud of it. It would mean everything to us to celebrate the release of this record with all of you. We will have CD and vinyl copies of the album, as well as a couple new t shirts that are looking pretty great! All album & t shirt artwork was done by the extremely talented Matt Gauk. Hey everyone!

We want to thank all of our amazing friends and families for coming out to The Paradise on Friday, June 26th! We played a sold out show with one of our favorite bands to ever exist, Buffalo Tom. A HUGE thank you to them and Tom Johnston for having us on the bill- they are some of the kindest and most inspiring people we know. Thank you.

We also want to thank Jonathan Perry and The Boston Globe for the wonderful article/interview. You can read it HERE.

And lastly, a big, big thank you to Jen and Andy over at Band In Boston for recording our live set @ The Paradise. You can listen to it HERE on Boston.com or at their site, Band In Boston. Jen and Andy also graciously invited us back into their living room to record another Flophouse Session- stay tuned for more info!

Past, Present, and Future Tense

Hello Frienderinos,

Thought we’d take a moment to throw some updates/info/news yer way utilizing this unique communication medium.

PAST- Last week we played a couple of shows with Rock Plaza Central, both at TT’s and in NYC. We had a great time at both shows. Here are some pics taken from the TT’s show by Michael Epstein.

Also, we debuted a new song that is unrecorded but we are really stoked about. Luckily someone recorded the song.

You can check out for a full review/pics/video of the TT’s show at BOSTON BAND CRUSH if you are trying to waste some time whilst at work, at home, or perhaps riding the bus.

PRESENT- we are gearing up for our show at the Paradise with Buffalo Tom that we could not be more stoked about. I personally have never played at the Paradise nor have I played with Buffalo Tom before, despite the fact this feat has been achieved prior to my arrival in the Band, this is kinda a proud moment for yours truly. I have heard through the grapevine that ticket presales have been going swimmingly, so you should try to nab some tix soon. A word of advice that I will pass along is that you can save some dough from add’l ticket fees by going to the paradise box office m-f. You can also order tix HERE.

Also, we are stoked to be part of UR Chicago’s June Podcast. Our song The Sky (Or the Underground) is up there for your listening pleasure. Be sure to check out the podcast. I listened to some of it yesterday and heard some really great tunes from bands I had yet to hear. Be adventurous

I am particularly stoked to play in my home state in the city of Portland where I spent many years being youthful and mischievous. Hello again! We're slacking on the updates, we know, but we'd like to take this moment to bombard you with new tour dates and the announcement of our Boston CD release show!

First up, THIS SATURDAY (May 23rd), we'll be headed down to Piano's (NYC) to play with some great bands like, Hot Protestants, You Can Be A Wesley, and Fugitive Souls. Check out the poster below for deetz and come on down to cure your Saturday night fever!

Secondly, we've added some new tour dates with Cotton Jones and Buffalo Tom! We love, love, love, love them and we couldn't be more ecstatic to share the stage with both bands again. Don't miss out- check out the dates HERE!

Last but not least, we've announced our Boston CD release show! We've put our hearts and souls into this record and we cannot wait for y'all to hear it. Our beautiful and talented friends, DRUG RUG, will also be releasing their album this summer and they put their hearts and souls into their record.... that being said.... 2 hearts are better than 1! Hey Y'all,

We apologize for not updating the blog as promised. Quick recap:

1. Our second album is complete! More info to come as the release date, July '09, approaches. We're super proud/excited and would like to thank Chris McLaughlin over @ 1867 Recording Studio for his time, effort, and talents. Thank you, DR.!!!

2. SXSW was a blast and we played some great shows! Thank you to Rob/Old Flame, Steve/Pirate!, Baby A's, 40 Watt Club, Space 12, and everyone else who made our trip down to Austin a fun and successful one. We have some ridiculous photos HERE if you'd like to check 'em out.

New Album, New Year!

Hey Friends,

2008 is coming to an end and as much as we’d like to reflect on all the fun things we’ve done, we cannot wait for the new year to begin! But before we move on, we want to take this time to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the year- we really couldn’t have done anything without you. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Onto some news... We are extremely excited to announce that we will be recording our second album in February '09 @ 1867 Recording Studio in Chelsea, MA, with engineer extraordinaire, Chris McLaughlin. New songs have been a-brewin’ and we cannot wait to get them recorded.

We are also pleased to announce that the New York based label, Old Flame Records, will be releasing the album and will be distributed by Sony RED. Look out for it in a town near you in spring of ’09!

First up: the Improper Bostonian (music edition!) Issue Oct. 8-21, 2008
We were chosen as one of 10 bands to check out in Boston. Ketman was featured, as well... Love those guys/gal. Pick up a copy and read about all the bands!

First Blog!

Hey all,

It's 2:40 a.m. on Monday morning and what better to do than start a blog for the band.
So, here goes....

The inspiration for all this begins with a few tour dates we were lucky enough to be on supporting Dead Confederate (above) and Catfish Haven. Both bands are truly spectacular and it's safe to say that we had the time of our lives playing and hanging out with them.
Aside from TT's in Cambridge, we played The Khyber in Philly and Mercury Lounge in NYC. Both crowds were extremely inviting and we had a blast playing in their cities. The night after our NYC show, Dead Confederate graced our television sets by playing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. They killed their performance, as expected, and Walker stole the show... :D

All in all, it was a time. We played, we raged, we boosted it up. Now, its time for bed. Good night!
